Rhombus and Gymdesk integrate access control with gym memberships, automatically syncing door access, fobs, and attendance in one platform.
SACRAMENTO, CA, UNITED STATES, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Rhombus, a leader in cloud-managed physical security, today announced an integration with Gymdesk, a gym and fitness management platform, to automatically connect door access directly to membership status for gyms, martial arts schools, and fitness studios.
“Our mission at Rhombus is to build true partnerships and deliver simple, smart, and powerful solutions that fit each customer’s needs. We’re building the infrastructure layer for physical security, enabling companies like Gymdesk to put our cloud-based access control right inside their software, so gyms can manage members and doors together in one system.”
— Jeremy Gulley, Director of Ecosystem at Rhombus
With the integration, Gymdesk membership status becomes the single source of truth for determining who can access the facility. When staff freeze, cancel, or renew a member in Gymdesk, Rhombus Access Control updates that person’s door access automatically. Employees can use Gymdesk to issue new fobs, revoke door access, and manage member data without logging into a second system or entering information twice. Staff assign, revoke, and replace fobs directly within the member’s Gymdesk profile. Every entrance through a Rhombus access control automatically logs attendance in the member’s Gymdesk profile, helping teams track gym usage and anticipate staffing needs, cleaning schedules, and peak traffic periods.
“Gym owners kept asking for door access that’s actually tied to their memberships. When a gym member freezes or cancels their membership, the fob should stop working, without anyone maintaining a second list. We could have built our own hardware. Partnering with Rhombus was the better answer: they’re excellent at access control, we stay focused on gym management software, and they built this with us rather than just selling us a product. That’s the part that made it work, and it’s why I’m optimistic about what comes next for our customers.”
— Alex Cuevas, CEO of Gymdesk
Many gyms rely on separate software programs for access control and gym membership management, forcing staff to manage fobs, check-ins, and cancellations multiples times in various different platforms. This partnership closes that gap. Gymdesk owns the member relationship, Rhombus owns door access control, and the two stay in sync automatically, so access always reflects current membership. Gym owners don’t have to handle installation on their own. Rhombus helps connect customers with the right reseller partner for their needs, many of whom provide professional deployment services. From planning and installation to getting the system up and running, customers can get the support they need while staying focused on running their business and protecting their employees and members.
How the Integration Works
Member-driven access — Freezing, canceling, or renewing a member in Gymdesk automatically updates that person’s door access through Rhombus.
One console, no double system entry — Staff assign, revoke, and replace fobs right from the member’s Gymdesk profile, with no separate access-control system to manage.
Attendance tracking — Every entrance through Rhombus Access Control logs attendance in Gymdesk automatically.
Tier-based permissions — Door access is set once per membership tier, so new members inherit the right access without requiring individual configuration.
Unstaffed operation — Business-hours rules and remote unlock allow gyms to offer extended or 24/7 access without staffing the front desk.
Unstaffed Operation
The integration is built to keep the doors running even when no one is watching them. Gyms set business-hours rules and can remotely unlock doors when needed, enabling extended or 24/7 access without dedicated front-desk staff. If internet connectivity drops, Rhombus door controllers keep working from a cached member list so members already entitled to access can still get in, and the system re-syncs with Gymdesk once the connection is restored.
Gymdesk supports 4,500+ gyms, martial arts schools, and fitness studios, consolidating memberships, billing, scheduling, and attendance in one platform. Thousands of organizations trust Rhombus to secure their facilities and streamline their operations through a single, cloud-managed platform.
For Gymdesk customers, Rhombus Access Control is now available as an integrated door-access solution. Organizations interested in the integrated solution can visit https://www.rhombus.com/integrations/gymdesk/ or contact Gymdesk directly.
